This unusual collection of souls first gathered in 1986 under the direction of renowned singer, songwriter, arranger and teacher, Tony Backhouse. In its 22-year history the choir has produced three recordings, toured the USA and New Zealand and performed at many national festivals, including the Bellingen Global Carnival, Olympics "Hemispheres" festival and WOMADelaide. This year the choir is undergoing a complete regeneration with many new members, soloists and a new Musical Director, Dynes Austin. Drawing on our rich heritage of original and traditional arrangements as well as exciting new material, The Café will still send shivers up your spine and shoot straight for the heart.
