The Swish Dudes
The Swish Dudes like to explore the music that can be performed by 3, 4 and 5 male voices; close harmony, traditional, barbershop, doo-wop, Victorian, songs from musicals, as well as light classical and pop arrangements. Their repertoire is eclectic (just like them) and expanding as they find the music and vocal arrangements that suit them. Nevertheless, they admit to some bias and nostalgia - they don't write songs like they used to. Songs from the 20's to the 40's in slower tempos are still worth hearing. Collectively, the Swish Dudes can claim about 300 years' life experience (and they still want more), and varying amounts of musical and singing experience. Bruce, their bass, (a Sydney Con graduate) also busks with tuba and trombone. Jonathan, their alto/tenor (and sometimes baritone) who long ago played French horn in the London University orchestra has been singing in choirs since he was a boy soprano. He now also does original arrangements (and rearrangements) for the Swish Dudes. Lewis has sung in various choirs in Sydney for some 30 or more years. Hear them: Java Jive When are they on?
